REY Industries, Inc. was founded in 1975 by Robert E. (Bob) Yearsley and the company quickly grew to be the premiere supplier of selected equipment to the growing processed potato and French fry industry. Superior products including Air Make-up Units, Fryer Air Washers, and the patented Oil Miser® oil recovery system quickly became required machinery for every potato plant in North America, and this technology soon spread to Europe and Australia.
In the 1980’s, Tom Staley joined the organization as Sales Manager and eventual owner of the company that would become REYCO Systems. Tom brought the well respected TEMCO line of pneumatic conveying systems as a core business. TEMCO was known throughout the North American food processing industry for their ability to move fragile food products with virtually no damage. As part of the REYCO line, the applications were expanded to include waste conveying without the use of water or the costly maintenance of long conveyor belts.
The next two decades saw the addition of the patented WaterVac and EcoVac™ lines of liquid removal equipment and the rise of positive pneumatic waste systems that are now a standard in the fresh-cut industry. As of this writing, REYCO waste systems are a mainstay in over 80% of the major fresh-cut fruit and vegetable plants in the United States and Canada. Recent developments include the design of the DynaMiser oil recovery system while our knowledge of air and heat flows has driven us to design complete Energy Recovery and reclamation units.
In July 2005, REYCO Systems was purchased by Idaho Steel Products, a leader as a complete system supplier in the potato industry including potato flake and frying lines.
